The Iota Mu chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International began as a colony on September 27, 2007. The founding members, Sean Donnelly, John Dugan, Thom Muccillo, Francisco Vaninni, Thomas Morris, Hugo De Blauwe, Steven Hamilton, Carl Belshause, Justin Tsay, Daniel Smith, John Buckley, Jon Hendrix, and Ben James, were assembled by Expansion Director Jim DiVita with the help of Nick Frees and Duane Cunningham. Over the next two years the founding members worked hard to recruit men embodying the Sigma Pi ideals. Finally, on November 14, 2009, the Georgia Tech Colony officially received a charter to operate as the Iota Mu Chapter, initiating 55 well-deserving men into the international organization. Since then, the brotherhood has focused on growing and becoming a more integral part of the Georgia Tech Greek system.
